The best editors charge for their experience, spend a great deal of time with each manuscript, and have a backlog of work. To get the right editor, be patient and be willing to pay, because you will get what you pay for, and you'll be rewarded with a good editing job. Bobbie Christmas - author of 'Write in Style' (Union Square Publishing).
For proofreading and editing work, I charge per 1000 words. This allows the client to know how much they will be charged, without waiting for an unexpected bill. The client also benefits if the work takes longer than anticipated.

Copy editing £13 per 1000 words for light copy editing £15 per 1000 words for medium copy editing £17 per 1000 words for advanced copy editing.
